Honoring Our Service Heroes
Veterans have served to provide security for us and our country. We believe they should be served in their time of need in a way that recognizes, honors and responds to the unique needs of the Veteran and their family. Our team members are end-of-life experts who have received additional education and training on identifying, assessing and meeting the needs of Veterans and their families from the time of referral through bereavement services. We have modeled our program based on the recommendations of the Nation Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s We Honor Veterans program.
Omega Health Care achieves We Honor Veterans Partner Level – 1 Status
Omega Health Care announced today the hospice has met the strict requirements to reach Partner Level – 1 status with the We Honor Veterans campaign. This is an accomplishment that demonstrates a sound commitment to serving our nations heroes. Earlier this year, Omega Health Care became a national partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering campaign developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the department of Veterans Affairs.
Omega Health Care has reached Level - 1 Status by creating Veteran-specific educational material and presentations to staff, volunteers and the community. The organization has also partnered with local organizations to collaboratively serve Veterans, and has participated in events to honor our veterans currently on service such as coining services, touring a local armory and letters of recognition. Omega Health Care is one of the few Level – 1 Partners in our service area.
The We Honor Veterans campaign provides tiered recognition to organizations that demonstrate a systematic commitment to improving care for Veterans. Partners, such as Omega Health Care, can assess their ability to serve Veterans, and using resources provided as part of the campaign, integrate best practices for providing end-of-life care to Veterans into their organization. By recognizing the unique needs of our nation’s Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness, Omega Health Care is able to accompany and guide Veterans and their families toward a more peaceful ending. And in cases there might be some specific needs related to the Veteran’s military service, combat experience or other traumatic events, Omega Health Care will have the tools to help support those they are caring for.
The resources of We Honor Veterans focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement, coupled with Veteran-centric education of health care staff caring for Veterans. “By achieving Partner Level - 1 Status we are taking a giant step forward in helping our staff and volunteers understand and serve Veterans at the end of life,” said Russ Rogers, Omega Health Care’s CEO. “America’s Veterans have served our country and we believe it is time to serve them”.

Omega Health Care has recently been recognized with the PATRIOT Award by the Department of Defense's Employer Support of the Guard (ESGR) for:
- Demonstrating support for service in the National Guard and Reserve
- Publicly acknowledging the contributions of Reserve component employees to our Nation’s defense
- Supporting Guard & Reserve employees beyond USERRA requirements
- Supporting Guard & Reserve employee families during mobilizations
